I started this blog in 2011 to talk about books and the online book community, especially the romance-reading part of it. I’m not a fiction author, I just read a lot and have thoughts about novels. I also cook a lot, so I post recipes.

The name of the blog comes from a comment thread at Dear Author; someone called me vacuous for not agreeing with his argument. A friend who is much better at blog names than I am suggested Vacuous Minx, and I took it from there.

  1. Hi Sunita,

My niece has asked for my help in picking a text to write an essay for the unit she is taking entitled -‘Myth History: Science fiction, fantasy and historical imagination’ and I need to pick a science fiction or fantasy text that has a sense of history.

I thought of Octavia Butler’s Wild Seed; Meljean Brook’s Iron Duke; Pavane by Keith Roberston; Thomas Harlan’s Aztec books; RA Macavoy’s Book of Kells; The Malazan books…

I wondered if you might have other suggestions? Most of these are old books because I am that old :) Pavane dates from the mid-60’s but is still pretty great.

    Cheers, Merrian

  2. Hi Sunita. Would you be interested in reviewing my book, The Indian Tycoon’s Marriage Deal? It is a Harlequin Indian Author Collection imprint and is currently available on amazon.co.uk and will soon be available in N. America. Please email me at adite99 at gmail dot com if you are interested and I would be happy to send you a review copy. Many thanks.
